About Newton House Gin
Robin and Jane have created a unique, complex, compelling and elite London Dry Gin whose flavours take their inspiration from five of the botanicals which are grown in their gardens. The gin is made from English grown distilled wheat spirit and twelve botanicals, Almonds, Juniper, Liquorice, Angelica Root, Coriander Seeds, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon and Orange Peel, Peaches, Mint, and Blueberries. The Gin’s 43.2% ABV has been specifically rectified to ensure all the flavours are maximised on the palate. This has been made possible by the use of Newton House Estate’s spring water which has seeped gently from the hills surrounding the house for centuries. It is fresh, clear and unique… the perfect match for Newton House Gin.
When cold tonic water and ice are added to Newton House Gin the alcohol ‘louches’ a little which means the gin goes cloudy or has a ‘pearlescent glow’ which is created by a greater volume of essential oils being present in the gin. This is due to us not using bought dried citrus peel but instead we dry copious amounts of yellow grapefruit, lemons and oranges each week, which also creates wonderful aromas in the distillery. We have made a conscious decision not to chill-filter our gin because the flavour rich oils from the freshly dried citrus peel makes us stand out from the crowd and enhances the rich flavour and mouthfeel.
The bottle, artwork and labels have all been created and manufactured in Britain. The label has been carefully designed to reflect the essential and inherent qualities of the gin which is traditional yet edged with modernity, classy yet accessible to all, gentle yet desirable.

The flavour of Newton House Gin is clean, zesty citrus with notes of juniper with underlying mint and peppery spice, further softened by the peach and blueberries giving the hint of English garden fragrances. Overall it whispers subtlety with a length and delicacy enhanced by an enjoyably long and fresh finish.
For an absolutely perfect serve, and to make the flavours of Newton House Gin sing, serve over ice, with a bruised mint leaf or three, a slice of lime and Fever-Tree Tonic. A Newton House G&T is refreshing, distinctive and delicious, and creates a completely harmonious flavour for the purist.

Robin and Jane Cannon purchased Newton House and 60 acres of gardens and grounds in 2007. It was in a very sorry state of decay and during the ten year restoration project every square inch of the house and outbuildings and every square yard of the grounds have been lovingly restored. The walled gardens now grow a large variety of flowers for cutting, herbaceous borders to enjoy and many botanicals including exciting and colourful edible flowers for cocktails!
In a moment of inspiration Robin and Jane decided to use their unique spring water which is pure and the elixir of life, having seeped gently from the hills surrounding the house for centuries, together with some of their homegrown botanicals to create a small batch, handcrafted gin. The gin was originally created in Hermione, a 10 litre copper still which is still used to develop delicious libations. After much trialling, the unique recipe was finally agreed and Newton House Gin was born.
Our delicious gin was originally distilled in Henrietta, a 60 litre copper still, located in a small distillery in the old dairy of the house. The distillery has now been relocated into the carpenter’s workshop in the grounds of Newton House affording the distilling team greater space to distil, bottle and label, in the new copper stills, which are called Unity, Liberty and Hope.
A huge effort goes into ensuring the consistency of every distillation. The result is pure nectar…. flavours of garden freshness, subtle nuances of ancient botanicals and delightful surprises for your taste buds.
Gin & Jazz Nights
Robin and Jane Cannon have for many years enjoyed Jazz at Ronnie Scotts and GIN wherever they can find it! They decided to share both loves and launched Gin and Jazz evenings at The Bespoke Gin House, formerly the stable and coach house, at their Jacobean Manor House, in 2017. The Gin and Jazz evenings have proved to be hugely popular. Please subscribe to our mailing list and you will receive notification as soon as new dates are released.

Let's Talk Gin

- 50ml Newton House Gin
- 15 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15ml Campari
- 15ml Adnams Triple Sec
- 1 tsp Marmalade.
Put lots of ice in a cocktail shaker. Add the marmalade and stir. Add the Gin, lemon juice, Campari and Triple Sec. Shake and strain into your favourite glass. Garnish with orange peel and enjoy.
- 50ml Newton House Gin
- 25ml Passion Fruit Liqueur
- 12ml freshly squeezed Orange Juice
- One egg white
Put lots of ice into a cocktail shaker. Add 50ml Newton House Gin, 25ml Passion Fruit Liqueur, 12ml freshly squeezed Orange Juice and one egg white. Shake extravagantly and pour into your favourite cocktail glass. Sip, enjoy and share!
- 50ml Newton House Gin
- 2 Slices of Cucumber
- Pinch of Sea Salt
- Sprig of Dill
- 50ml Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
- 15ml Elderflower Cordial
Put all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake with style. Double strain into a cocktail glass, decorate with a sprig of dill and enjoy.
Recipe for a Christmas Cocktail
- 50ml Newton House Gin
- 20ml Monin Rose Syrup
- 12.5ml of fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 Egg White
Dry shake (no ice) the above ingredients until frothy.
Add plenty of ice to the shaker and shake for eight seconds.
Strain and fine strain into a coupe glass.
Add a rose petal for garnish and enjoy!
- 50ml of Newton House Gin
- 100ml of Fresh Grapefruit Juice
- 15ml of Fresh Lime Juice
- 15ml of Simple Syrup
- Soda Top
Garnished with a dehydrated orange fan.
Add all ingredients except soda water to a shaker shake hard over ice and serve straight up into a large chilled flute, top with soda.
- 40ml of Newton House Gin
- 15ml of Elderflower Liqueur
- 25ml of Fresh Lime Juice
- 12.5ml of Simple Syrup
- Egg White
- Newton House Garden Cucumber & Mint Leaves
Garnished with a cucumber wrap.
Muddle the cucumber in a shaker, add mint leaves and the rest of the ingredient, shake hard over ice, strain the contents into a shaker and dry shake without ice to emulsify liquid.
Pour straight up in a chilled Nick & Nora style glass or Goblet.
